Yes, once you know how to disable sticky keys, you will be able to avoid its accidental ignition. Within the Sticky Keys settings, one has a choice of having the shortcut key open Sticky Keys. Always ensure that you uncheck this box to prevent the shortcut causing this feature to be activated.
